Clear questions about protection. Useful records if something goes wrong.
Do not assume belongings are insured because a service includes packing or transport. Before booking, clarify the mover’s responsibility and any insurance available for your consignment. Your accepted contract and policy documents explain the applicable cover and claim process.
What to ask before you accept cover
- Who is the insurer, and who is the policyholder or insured party?
- Which goods and declared value are covered, and how is that value established?
- When does cover start and end? Does it include the handling stages in your move?
- What are the premium, exclusions, deductible and documentation requirements?
- Who receives a claim, what reporting steps apply, and who makes the claim decision?
Request the policy or certificate and terms. A general assurance of “full coverage” does not answer these questions. This page does not claim that Shiftify is an insurer or promise that a particular policy is available for every move.
At collection: establish what was handed over
Keep the accepted quotation and inventory. Agree carton labels and item counts, photograph valuable or delicate items and note pre-existing condition. Identify goods you packed yourself and ask how that affects the agreed responsibility or any policy.
At delivery: record an exception clearly
- Compare delivered items and carton counts with the inventory.
- Record visible damage or missing goods on the delivery document.
- Take clear photographs and keep relevant packaging and labels.
- Contact the booking team promptly with the quote reference and a factual description.
- Follow the applicable contract and policy instructions for further evidence or assessment.
Do not sign a condition statement you know is inaccurate. Where safe and practical, preserve the item for assessment and check the procedure before disposing of packaging or authorising non-essential repairs.
When you cannot check everything at delivery
A carton count confirms how many packages arrived; it does not establish that every item inside is present or working. Note torn seals, wet packaging and the specific cartons you could not inspect. If another person receives the move, give them the inventory and explain which items need checking. Ask for a copy of the record they sign.
If damage appears during unpacking, keep the carton label, photograph the packaging and affected item, and record when you discovered the problem. For an appliance that does not work, describe the symptom and keep any relevant technician's assessment. Avoid guessing the cause. Follow the manufacturer's instructions before powering up equipment, and report promptly through the applicable claim process.
Trace a missing item with its inventory reference
Identify the missing item or carton number, its label, collection count and any delivery exception. Ask the coordinator to check the loading record, transfers and remaining delivery inventory. Request a written update and the next contact point. If a carton arrives later, record its condition and receipt date separately instead of treating the original incomplete delivery as complete.
How to contact Shiftify about an issue
Use shiftify7@gmail.com or the contact on your booking. Include your quote reference, move date, affected inventory item, photographs and the delivery record. Keep personal documents and unrelated financial information out of the message.
A service complaint and an insurance claim may follow different processes. For an insurance grievance, approach the insurer through its stated process; the IRDAI policyholder grievance guidance explains the regulator’s role and Bima Bharosa. Nothing here promises a particular claim outcome or removes rights under applicable law.
Keep one history of the claim
Keep the initial report, acknowledgement, evidence requests and responses together. Ask which documents remain outstanding, who is assessing the issue and when the next update is expected. Where a proposed settlement is unclear, request the calculation and its contract or policy basis before deciding whether to accept it.
For an insurance grievance, the official Bima Bharosa information explains the portal's role. For a service complaint that remains unresolved, see the consumer grievance steps. These routes do not establish a compensation amount or guarantee a result.
